Cadence

Book Three of an ongoing series.

Michael and Lena are building a life together — and their hearts keep pulling toward Cadence Monroe, a quiet, gifted clarinetist navigating the foster system while deciding whether belonging is worth the risk of hoping again.

Set against Franklin High School's most ambitious summer yet, this is a novel about what happens when musicians become family — and what it costs, and what it gives, to keep showing up for each other.

A testament to what can grow from grief, what can rise from silence, and what it means to find your voice again.

Director of Bands · Author · Educator

Adam Nobile is a music educator, conductor, and author whose work sits at the intersection of musical excellence and deeply human storytelling. He has spent his career at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania — building a program centered on culture, consistency, and the belief that every student deserves to be heard.

His fiction began with Resonance, a novel drawn from the quiet, complicated world of a high school band room. What followed was an ongoing series — Resonance, Dissonance, and Cadence so far — that has touched readers who recognize something true in its pages: the weight of leadership, the grace of students finding their voices, and the love that makes a music program more than an ensemble. The Second Voice Series is planned to run seven or eight volumes.

His nonfiction speaks directly to the educators and musicians doing that work every day. Under the Hood is a practical guide to rebuilding a program with integrity and intention. The Music Major Myth — in development for 2026 — will give aspiring music majors the honest preparation they've never been given.
